PUPILS from Year 2 classes of St Catherine’s School and St Stephen’s Community Academy gathered at Windmill Hill Academy last Friday, to take part in a trust event.

The event takes place once a term with this term’s theme being well-known and well-loved children’s stories. The school chose the theme because the steps leading to Windmill Hill Academy had recently been decorated with murals, done by a parent and Barefoot volunteers, depicting characters from a selection of children’s stories.

The murals included images from Meg and Mog and The Gruffalo and as part of the event the children were given the opportunity to be creative themselves and write a story on a theme from anyone of the creations.

Acting assistant headteacher Abby Bassett said: “Windmill Hill Academy would like to say a special thank you to everyone who took the time to paint them — the children, staff and parents think they are amazing. They are a great inspiration for the children and a lovely thing for them to see on their way to and from school.”
