BLAENAVON Male Voice Choir travelled to Cornwall over the Bank Holiday weekend as part of the Cornish International Festival of Male Voice Choir - a biennial event attracting around 70 choirs from all over the world.

In the competition the Blaenavon choir - fresh from its appearance at the Borough Theatre on St David's Day - was placed third in their section behind student choirs from Switzerland and Lithuania but were awarded the trophy for best UK choir.

Immediately after their triumphant return the choir was involved in a recording of a programme with The Hairy Bikers for their new series to be screened in the autumn.
