THE Mayor of Holsworthy has issued a warning following attempted scams.  

Cllr Nigel Kenneally, mayor of Holsworthy, has warned of scammers contacting members of the community using his name.  

Scammers appear to be reaching out to residents via WhatsApp and asking users to purchase gift cards.  

Cllr Kenneally said: “If anyone gets a WhatsApp message from me asking you to buy gift cards with a town council logo, please ignore it, block it, and report it.

“It’s a scam.”  

Residents should remain on the look out for the account which is using the town council’s logo as its profile image.
