ENGLISH Bicknor were crowned North Gloucestershire League champions with a comfortable win on the final day of the season.
It's the first time in the club's 61-year history that it has won the Premier Division title.
At the start of the day, three sides were in with a shout of lifting the silverware and earning promotion to the Gloucestershire Senior League.
Leaders Westbury could only watch from the sidelines knowing that a win for Bicknor or third-placed Mitcheldean would spell last-day heartbreak.
Bicknor, who started the day in second place, knew a win in the Wye Valley would clinch it for them.
Mitcheldean were relying on Bicknor to drop points at Redbrook and in the end their 0-3 win at bottom side Lydbrook Athletic Reserves was only enough to leapfrog Westbury into second place.
A James Davies hat-trick with one each for Lance Bevan and Luke Gray were the golden goals for Bicknor while Dean Taylor and James Weston scored for the home side.
Following their win, English Bicknor manager, Kevin Gwilliam, was given a champagne shampoo, in celebration of his team topping the league.
