Cornwall Cricket League Division Three East latest round-up
ED WALTERS struck his first century in the fourth tier as Werrington Thirds eased past fellow strugglers Liskeard by 68 runs at Ladycross on Saturday.
The talented left-hander struck 13 fours in his 103 as they racked up 279-5 against the bottom side.
Fellow youngster Sam Smeeth made 25 in a new role as opener while skipper Ian Wills (62) and the generosity of Liskeard’s extras count (65) helped.
Liskeard to their credit replied with a solid effort of their own with 211-5 as Werrington picked up 17 points.
Luckett eased to a ten-wicket victory at Boconnoc despite being set 243 to win.
Openers Ryan Brown and Henry Wilkinson made 120 and 105 respectively as they were home with 12 overs to spare.
Earlier in the afternoon, Keith Maynard (2-36) and James Wilkinson (3-50) shared five wickets before the hosts recovered from 131-6 to post 242-7.
Launceston ended a five-match losing run as they won by 42 runs at Newquay Seconds.
Dan Tilley returned to form with 98, and with opener Phil Spry (55) and extras (54) also helping, they posted 282-6.
Newquay’s batsmen got off to a flyer, but wickets fell at crucial times as they finished on 240-6.
David Cox (2-26), Matt Davey (2-35) and Matt Bloomfield (2-63) did the business.
Callington Thirds beat neighbours Saltash St Stephens Seconds by five wickets on Sunday at Moores Park.
Saltash recovered from 113-6 to post 232 all out with Matt Petherbridge making 71.
Zak Newton-Jenkins (3-38) and the returning Alex Mortimore (2-47) shared five wickets.
The chase was a team affair.
They slipped to 92-3 and 168-5 despite forties from Liam Hunn (47) and Charlie Coates (48) and twenties from Tom Neville (26) and Chris Simpson (25), but Ben Neville (31no) and Mohamed Durrani-Zubair (32no) held their nerve.
