ALTON began their Southern Electric Cricket League season in remarkable style – with a tie against promoted Sarisbury Athletic.

The Brewers will have mixed feelings about the result. The 50-over game ebbed and flowed throughout the day and a scrambled run-out finally denied Alton the win, but they still came home with a useful 16 points.
