LAUNCESTON secured a fourth straight league victory on Saturday as they beat North Cornwall rivals Camelford 2-0 in SWPL Premier West.
A scrappy game was brought to life when Alfie Fothergill went down under a challenge from Ross Beare, and a controversial penalty was awarded.
Mike Steele saw his effort saved by Josh Colwill, but was able to put home the rebound.
The game was then decided for good soon after as Andy Watkins brilliantly fired in from Mark Wilson’s pass.
Bude Town picked up a superb point as Ryan Keates’ late spot-kick saw them hold leaders Liskeard Athletic to a 2-2 at Broadclose Park.
Dan Jennings’ brace – one in each half – looked to have sent the Blues to a ninth league victory on the road this term – but after Billy Hopcroft pulled one back, Keates kept his cool.
It was Bude’s best performance of the season and on another day, could quite easily have won it if it wasn’t for an excellent display by Liskeard goalkeeper Sam Borthwick.
Callington Town produced a superb away day as they won 3-1 at fifth-placed Newquay.
Goals from Kieran Prescott and Kieran Ryall gave mid-table Cally a 2-0 lead, and although Ewan Travers pulled one back, Taran Goodright settled the contest in the second half.
It was enough for them to win the ‘Team of the Week’ award.
Holsworthy were without a game but played a friendly against their reserves at Upcott Field.
