WEATHER permitting, several Post area clubs from the South West Peninsula League are in action tomorrow including cup ties for Camelford and Callington Town.

The SWPL League Cup, better known as the Walter C Parson Funeral Directors League Cup, incorporates teams from both the Premier East and Premier West divisions of the SWPL.

Camelford, seventh in Premier West, welcome fourth-placed Newton Abbot Spurs from the East Division to Trefrew Park (2.30pm).

Newton Abbot beat Southern League Tiverton Town last week in the Devon St Luke’s Bowl, and will provide a stiff challenge for the Camels, who will start as underdogs.

That said, Reg Hambly’s side have been in decent form themselves recently, and will hope home advantage will count.

Callington Town will back themselves to get through when they welcome out of form Mullion to Ginsters Marshfield Parc (2.30pm).

Cally’s new-look side have come together well under Dean Southcott since he left Gunnislake over the summer, while the Seagulls have been on the end of defeats to Penzance and Holsworthy in their last two outings.

In the Premier West Division, Launceston have the task of Liskeard Athletic for the third time this season when they head to Lux Park (3pm).

They only visited the Blues last week in the Cornwall Senior Cup, but their youngsters did the club proud in a 6-3 defeat, which was only secured in the latter stages.

However in the league Liskeard have been nigh-on perfect, only dropping points in a 3-3 draw with nearest challengers St Austell.

They have scored the most goals out of any Step Six side in the country, and look a good bet to enjoy Western League football in the 2024/25 season.

While Launceston have a free-hit at Liskeard, Holsworthy head to a Wadebridge Town side (2.15pm) that were expected to be amongst the frontrunners.

However Town are fifth, level on points with Holsworthy who have exceeded expectations since being transferred from the East Division over the summer.

Ryan Hall’s side have eight wins and two draws to their name, and won 3-1 at Mullion last Saturday.

Bude Town’s season has been inconsistent to say the least with several comfortable victories, and even more heavy defeats.

It has been announced that former Yeovil Town and Torquay United winger Gabby Rogers has moved back up country to join King’s Lynn, while it remains to be seen what sort of squad they have out for tomorrow’s long trip down to Penzance (3pm).

Bude have taken advantage of the dual-registered rout in recent weeks, in no small part due to a lengthy injury and suspension list, which will hopefully have subsided somewhat after a fortnight off.

Penzance’s young side are improving and look a good bet for a mid-table finish, while Bude are 11th with 17 points from their 14 games.
