NORTH DEVON LEAGUE ROUND-UP – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7
HOLSWORTHY Reserves picked up a useful point in the Premier Division as they drew 1-1 at Braunton on Saturday.
The Magpies, had picked up just four points from as many games, and once again it was in-form striker Ben Sharpe that earned Adam Woznitska’s side a point from their long trip north.
Both Morwenstow and Shebbear United were in action at home on Saturday in the Senior Division.
While the Greens were losing 4-1 at home to Boca Seniors Reserves, Shebbear thrashed Northam Lions 6-1 with a dominant second half display.
Sheb led 1-0 at half-time but put on the afterburners after the break to make it ten points from a possible 12.
Chris Wildern was the hero with four, while Joe Andrew and Taylor Quick were also on target.
Up at the Shop Playing Field, Morwenstow had an afternoon to forget against Boca.
They trailed 3-0 at the break, and although Jacob Jollow gave them a sniff, Boca ran out comfortable winners.
Morwenstow Reserves’ tough start to the season continued as they twice lost in Intermediate One.
They welcomed neighbours Bradworthy on Tuesday night and went down 3-2 against the Horniwinks who are back after a year off.
Bradworthy led 3-1 at the break thanks to goals from Brad Birch, Harrison Palmer and Tudor Placinta which was enough despite strikes from Norman Foster and Nathan Pearce.
Morwenstow visited Putford on Saturday and were 4-0 down at the break. They drew the second half with Foster and Alfie Birchmore the scorers.
Andrew Furse netted twice as Holsworthy Thirds got off the mark with a 3-2 success over Langtree Lions.
