SWPL PREMIER WEST (SATURDAY)
Truro City Reserves 2 Bude Town 1
BUDE Town were made to pay for a series of missed chances as Truro City Reserves secured a 2-1 success at the Truro City Stadium.
The Seasiders started well at Langarth with attacker Rocco Dyer prominent.
He hit the upright after some great wing play down the right, had a one-on-one saved before eventually notching 13 minutes in when the goalkeeper cleared his lines straight into Dyer and it hit him and went into the top left corner.
Further chances went before the hosts equalised on 44 minutes when a ball switched out to the right flank by Truro found Rhys Simmonds who cut inside and hit a shot into the far post.
The second half was more of a midfield battle, but the Seasiders had a guilt-edged chance to take the lead when some neat wing play down the left, found a cross that George Harvey couldn’t dispatch from three yards as the keeper stayed big.
Truro applied lat pressure, and in the sixth minute of injury time, a corner found its way to Liam Higgins whose shot which was going wide, struck Steve Box and deflected into the net.
Reflecting on the game, Bude boss Steve Hackett said: “I’m absolutely gutted to lose in this way as we had six or seven big opportunities to put the game out of sight, a goal disallowed and losing to a 96th minute winner was a real sickener.
“We need to learn from these games and take our chances, otherwise you get punished at this level.”
