CORNISH All Blacks’ joint head coaches Ian Goldsmith and Ryan Westren have been forced into three changes from last weekend’s 28-16 victory at Newbury for tomorrow’s South West Premier derby against Okehampton at Polson Bridge (3pm).

Before the 2017/18 season, the two clubs hadn’t met in league competition for almost 20 years with the All Blacks predominantly plying their trade at National Two (South) or above, while Oke milled around at South West One (West) or Western Counties (West) level.

However over the last couple of years, the clubs have built up a fair rivalry with the Devon side having the better of things, winning three of the four meetings.

Last season saw both sides battle away for the South West One (West) title with the Okes victorious in both fixtures on their way to claiming the championship by just three points and secure their first ever season at Step Five.

But due to the All Blacks’ play-off success over Old Centralians, the clubs meet again with a large, partisan crowd expected.

Eight-placed Oke have enjoyed a solid start, having won all three of their home games but losing all three on the road.

The All Blacks, who have already had one of their byes, were winless in their opening four fixtures, but put in a superb display in Berkshire on Saturday to move off the bottom at the expense of Brixham.

However, Launceston’s hopes of naming an unchanged side have hit a snag as fly-half Glenn Colesand outside-centre Shaun Crawford are unavailable while in-form winger Louis Ogilvie has failed to recover from an injury picked up last week.

Their places are taken by Alfie Lang, Tom Sandercock and Dan Pearce, with Reuben Edwards switching from full-back to take Coles’ place, which allows Lang to move to 15.

Sandercock has recovered from a dead leg sustained against Maidenhead to make a rare appearance in the midfield, while Pearce returns after a couple games out to play on the wing.

The other change in the squad sees former Wadebridge Camels forward Gary Gynn replace Rhys Carpenter on the bench, while versatile back Ben Hawke is also selected in the 18 for the first time since the spring.

Okehampton have also named their side, which shows four alterations from last weekend’s impressive 27-11 victory over Ivybridge at The Showground.

Prop Rob Dugard starts against his former club in place of Pat Nash, while Brad Curtis is preferred in the second-row to Liam Sampson, who is on the bench.

However it’s the backline, which sees a real change of both personnel and positions.

With centres Bevon Armitage and Rhys Palmer not in the 18, scrum-half Joey Bruce starts which means regular nine Richard Bolt moves outside to ten with Dan Fogerty going to full-back and former CABs favourite Richard Friend moving into 12. He’ll be joined in the centre by Brandon Horn, whose place on the wing is taken by Callum Southgate.

There is no specialist back to come off the bench.
