IN A NOTEWORTHY showcase of young talent, three players from Bude RFC represented Exeter Chiefs Academy in matches against their Coventry counterparts in Bristol on Sunday, March 30.
Alfie Johns, Lucas Bisby, and Ewan Shadrick each made significant contributions to their teams' performance at the Coombe Dingle Sports Complex, highlighting their skills and teamwork on the field.
Alfie took to the field first with the under 17s and immediately made an impact by scoring the opening try.
Known for his commanding presence in both attack and defence, the back-rower continued to assert himself throughout the match, adding a second try to his tally.
In addition to his scoring efforts, he provided three key assists, showcasing his ability to support his teammates effectively. His strong tackling and overall performance played a crucial role in securing the victory for the Devonians.
Following the under 17s’ match, the U16s took the pitch, where Lucas drew inspiration from his childhood friend Alfie.
Lucas, starting on the wing, opened the scoring early by crossing the line for the first try of the game, setting a positive tone for his team.
Shortly after, Ewan, who played at hooker, contributed to the momentum with the second try. Lucas painted an even stronger picture of his skills by scoring an impressive second try after the break, demonstrating remarkable speed and determination as he ran nearly half the pitch to secure the score.
Additionally, he recorded two assists for tries, highlighting his playmaking capabilities on the field.
Overall, the matches marked a successful day for the Exeter Chiefs Academy, with all three Bude representatives contributing tries to their respective games.
