THE start of the new North Cornwall League table tennis season is now less than six weeks away with teams getting their pre-season preparations underway.

Budehaven are seeking their third league title in a row, but Blisland will doubtless have other ideas now that their top player, Bob Thompson, has returned from Australia.

Helland A won promotion from Division Two and it’ll be interesting to see how Mike Fisher will get on in Division One having gone unbeaten in league competition last term.

Budehaven C ran away with the third division during the last campaign and in young Owen Salisbury, had someone who emulated Fisher in going throughout the league season without losing a match.

Again, like Fisher, how he progresses will provide plenty of talking points.

Most clubs are getting ready for action, with players dusting off the summer cobwebs and getting down to some serious practice.

The Budehaven club is back in full swing and runs from 7pm each Thursday.

All ages and abilities are welcome, whether you’d like to play in a team or just come along for some fun.

Table tennis is the second highest participation sport in the world with over 300 million people playing according to International Sporting Federation figures, while it is also an excellent way to get more exercise at very little expense.
