ST PIRAN LEAGUE ROUND-UP (SATURDAY)

THE east divisions are now nearly in full swing with a handful of matches in the five east divisions.

In Premier Division East, third-placed Callington Town Reserves fell to a third defeat at Polperro, while North Petherwin secured a third victory from five games as they came from behind to beat St Blazey Reserves 3-2 at Petherwin Park with their goals coming from Ryan Hancock, Sonny Smith and an own goal.

Bottom side Launceston pushed champions St Dominick all the way before going down 2-1 at Lovells Park.

Ryan Crabb gave the Clarets a 24th minute lead, but the Doms hit back to win it in the final half hour through Steve Nicholls and Joe Dobby.

Gunnislake’s first outing of the seasons saw them beaten 4-1 by second-placed Saltash United.

Gunni trailed 1-0 at the break and got a late consolation from Tom Dixon.

Altarnun’s tough start continued as St Mawgan left Tresibbett with a 2-1 success.

The Nuns, who scored through felt they deserved more from the game but were undone by set pieces against last year’s runners-up.

The first round of the George Evely Cup – for clubs in Division One and Two East – took place with several Post area clubs making it through.

St Teath won 4-0 at Gerrans and St Mawes United with Cameron Barrett, Leighton Carhart, Freddie Foster and Danny Sprake all netting, while Kilkhampton went one better at Lanreath in a 5-0 rout.

St Breward edged out Lifton 1-0 at Brake Parc.

Just one game went ahead in Division Two East as a new-look Bude Town Reserves outfit got their campaign started with a 4-0 defeat at Gorran.

The Seasiders are under new management in Hayden White and Jake Salt, and with many of last year’s promotion-winning squad stepping up to the first team, it’s going to take time.

Four Post area clubs were in action in Division Three East, but only Week St Mary walked away with victory.

They eased past Lostwithiel 3-0 at Sanders Field with Corey Gilbert and Jake Burnage giving thema 2-0 lead inside half an hour.

Sub Steve Short added the third 16 minutes from time.

They remain second – three points behind unbeaten leaders Tregony who earned a 2-1 victory at Delabole United.

It was 1-1 at half-time with Martyn Cockcroft netting for the Slaters, but Tregony won it thanks to Dylan Fox and Elliot Swift.

Boscastle Reserves’ first outing saw them lose a seven-goal thriller at home to Biscovey.

Despite Drew Burnard’s double and Paul Dray’s effort, the visitors got their all-important fourth 11 minutes from time via an own goal.

North Petherwin Reserves had a tough afternoon as they were thrashed 8-3 at Indian Queens.

Five games were played in Division Four East.

St Teath Reserves thrashed their Gerrans and St Mawes counterparts 5-1, but there were tough results at home for Kilkhampton Reserves who lost 6-1 to Newquay Thirds and Lifton Reserves who were hammered 10-0 by visiting Grampound.

Pensilva Reserves earned a 1-1 draw at their Lostwithiel counterparts.
