THE three Post area sides in Division Three East of the Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League had contrasting fortunes on Saturday.
St Austell Thirds racked up 213-3 at home to Launceston who saw Shane Davey take 2-36 before the match was abandoned at tea, while Werrington Thirds’ Paul Miller struck an unbeaten 112 in their 221-7 at Newquay.
The home side were 98-1 at the halfway stage when play was halted.
Chris Simpson struck an unbeaten 75 as Callington Thirds won by five wickets at Grampound Road Seconds having been set 181 to win.
Launceston Seconds have yet to win in Division Four East and they were beaten by 52 runs at their Lanhydrock counterparts.
Although Chris Alford (3-40) and Tommy Davey (3-51) shared six wickets, their chase of 211 proved too much despite Mark Thomas’ 53.
St Minver Seconds were thrashed by title favourites St Neot by nine wickets.
They were all out for 103 despite Jake Keast’s 45.
Charlie Gliddon backed up his century against St Austell with 68 as Bude Seconds won by five wickets at Gunnislake in Division Five East.
He and skipper Mike Taylor (3-20) earlier shared six wickets as the home side were dismissed for 162 despite Russ Holloway’s 51.
At Holsworthy, Ryan Bridgeman was the star with the ball as the hosts eased past their South Petherwin Seconds counterparts by nine wickets.
He took 4-18 as Petherwin managed 95 all out, 44 of which came from Billy Martin.
Rory Piper then stroked an unbeaten 55 in the chase.
Sam Smeeth took 6-13 but it wasn’t enough as Werrington were beaten by three wickets by Gorran having been set 131 to win.
Tintagel Seconds lost their top of the table clash at St Neot Seconds in Division Six East by 49 runs having been set 223 to win.
They finished on 173-5 with Simon Harrison making 70.
Launceston Thirds were in the box seat at home to Boconnoc Seconds when the rain came in.
The visitors mustered just 125-4 from their 40 overs with Launceston 46-1 after ten overs.
