FOLLOWING a thunderous performance on the hallowed turf of Rodney Parade, Llanfoist Juniors Under 10s triumphantly lifted the Newport County Champions Cup 2015 at their first attempt.
They may represent a small village, but the Llanfoist FC lads gave a massive account of themselves to win all three matches in their group stage, before tenaciously battling their way through the quarter-final and semi-final, to give it all in a fiercely contested final against a quality Malpas and bring the silverware back to Monmouthshire.
Coach Andrew Ewers told the Chronicle, "The team were dominant from start to finish winning all six games. They may only be a young squad but there's a lot of talent there, and all of the players are to be congratulated for consistently taking instructions on board and training hard all season.
"It was an immense experience for such a young team to not only play, but win some silverware at Rodney Parade. It capped off a fantastic season and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank on behalf of myself and fellow coach Julian Edwards, the parents of the players for all their support and cooperation."
