Cornwall Cricket League Division Three East round-up – Saturday, July 13

DARREN Jenkin smashed 106 from just 56 deliveries as Launceston made it three wins on the spin with a comfortable five-wicket victory at Werrington Thirds.

The skipper came to the wicket in the sixth over needing 215 to win, and by the time he departed having struck 13 fours and six sixes, it was all but game done.

James Dawe (10) and new man David Sillifant (30no) then knocked off the runs despite a testing spell from promising paceman Tyler May (3-36) who had earlier taken care of openers Finlay Worth (17) and Phil Spry.

Earlier in the day, the Launceston trio of Peter West (1-22), Ryan Christophers (1-25) and Matt Bloomfield (2-35) all kept things tight as Werrington slipped to 110-5 after 30 overs despite 33 from opener Adam Paynter.

Dan Warring (56) and Ian Worsnip (48no) then rallied superbly as Werrington finished on 214-8, but it was Jenkin’s day.

Leaders Luckett overcame an early scare before comfortably winning by 97 runs at bottom side Liskeard.

They were in a spot of bother at 129-6, but the ever-classy Adrian Berry batted through from number four to finish on 102 not out as they reached 243-7.

He shared in stands of 44 and 70 respectively with Mark Soutchott and Jonny Hoskin, the latter making an unbeaten 26.

Liskeard got off to a fine start through Andrew Ware (27) and Danny Carroll as they added 76, but Ware’s departure sparked a collapse as they slipped to 108-6.

Carroll, who made 66 from 82 balls, added 30 with James Cobb (5no), but Carroll’s departure to Jonny Hoskin signalled the end as the final three wickets added just ten.

Cornwall Over 50s bowler Mark Southcott had the fine figures of 5-18 from 8.1 overs.

Mid-table Callington Thirds were without a game.
