The ever-increasing in popularity Imerys Trail half and full marathons saw record levels of entrants this year.
With more suitable conditions than last year many runners took advantage of the cooler temperatures to complete race number 6 out of the 10 in the Cornish Multi-Terrain Grand Prix.
Set predominantly on the clay trails around the Imerys clay workings, these combined races are a challenging yet rewarding chance to see areas of Cornwall not normally accessible to the general public.
In the full marathon Ironman athlete Mark Davidson finished 22nd in 3:30:12 to win his age group.
Seventeen East Cornwall Harriers competed in the half marathon of which Rob Lockyer was first back for ECH debuting at this event in 27th, 1:35:28.
David Philp and Chris Ullman were only separated by a few seconds as they finished 36th, 1:37:15 and 38th, 1:37:32, a debut for David and a 1:45 course PB for Chris.
Another stellar performance by the ever-faster Ian Crowle saw him home in 49th, 1:39:43 and winning second in his age group.
Jenny Nash was first lady back for ECH in 56th, 1:41:52 winning her age group and showing a clean pair of heels to Mark Andrews in 58th, 1:42:11.
Revis Crowle was next back in 67th, 1:43:15 and second in her age group only losing out to Jenny Nash.
Ben Harding just sneaked inside the top 100 in 100th in 1:50:40 also making his first appearance at this event.
Ann Quarmby and Sharon Daw were next Harriers back in 104th, 1:51:03 and 105th, 1:51:40. Simon Long, who prefers the off-road races, also ran well to finish in 118th, 1:53:39 with indestructible Rob Pick not far behind in 122nd, 1:54:24
Meeta Nicholls finished in 134th, 1:56:36, closely followed by Louise Littlewood 139th, 1:57:39, who both set course PBs of more than 10 minutes. Glenn Wood 159th, 2:02:19, Amy Williams 162nd, 2:02:56, and Jane Lockyer 166th, 2:03:36, completed the ECH team.
