HOLSWORTHY have announced their pre-season schedule ahead of the 2024/25 SWPL Premier West campaign.

The Magpies finished 11th in the Cornish division of the SWPL having been transferred from SWPL Premier East ahead of last season.

Boss Ryan Hall has been able to retain all of last year’s squad and has lined up six games to get themselves ready for their league opener on Saturday, August 3.

A trip to Western League Premier Division side St Blazey is the task on Saturday, July 6 before they welcome fellow North Devon side and St Blazey’s league rivals Ilfracombe Town to Upcott Field a week later.

A game against Torrington is never a ‘friendly’ but the two, who met in the recent Torridge Cup final which the Magpies lost 2-0, will meet at Torrington on Tuesday, July 16 (7.30pm).

The first Cornish opposition of the season will be St Piran League outfit Altarnun who welcome the Devonians on Saturday, July 20 (3pm).

The final week of pre-season has two away games pencilled in.

Tavistock Development is the assignment on Wednesday, July 24 (7.30pm) before a team bonding trek to the East Devon coast to SWPL Premier East outfit Sidmouth Town three days later.

Looking ahead to the coming weeks, Ryan Hall told the Post: “We’re really excited to get the lads back into training and starting to work on things going into next season.

“We have a good bunch of friendlies and teams which we think will help to prepare us for the new season. All sides other than Tavistock have a physical element to them, which has been our achilles heel in recent seasons, so being able to prepare and adapt to these sides will really help us going forward.

“Also, we have drawn up an exciting list of players, which we hope to get over the line in the coming weeks. We are looking to take the next step in our progression next season with a clear plan and view of how to move forward and the personnel to do so.”
