Dobwalls 5 Truro City Reserves 2
Oscar Larrieu said farewell to Dobwalls and indeed the country in spectacular style on Saturday with a hat-trick as Truro were well beaten at Lantoom Park.
The young midfield man, watched by his father, former Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Romain and ex Pilgrims manager Paul Sturrock, is off to Thailand to start his travels around the world.
He has been a very popular member of the young team Ben Washam and Brad Gargett have built and will be greatly missed by the club. He signed off with a treble which helped to lift Dobwalls to fourth in the table, only two points behind leaders Newquay, who visit Lantoom this Saturday (3pm).
Striker Josh Johnson was also among the goals, converting penalties at the end of each half. Larrieu opened his account as early as the fifth minute and Dobwalls dominated the half but they were stunned just before the break when Jack Bowyer equalised with an excellent finish.
But the home side did go in at half-time ahead after Johnson scored from the penalty spot in the third minute of added time.
Dobwalls put the game beyond Truro with two goals in three minutes from Larrieu midway through the second half to make it 4-1. Johnson added the fifth goal with an 87th minute penalty before Truro completed the scoring deep into injury time through substitute Reuben Chant.
Dobwalls joint manager Brad Gargett said: “After a few frustrating weeks for the boys and up against a side with a mix of good experienced players and young talent, it was a needed win and a good three points.
Bude Town 0 Penzance 2
Bude will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing defeat by Penzance.
Both Young brothers found themselves on the score sheet as Penzance withstood a strong Bude performance to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games – six without conceding a goal – and returned to third place in the table.
After a goalless first half Penzance made a double change shortly after the hour mark which changed the game. James Butler was given his first run-out since August, replacing Sullivan at left back while Lewis Caspall came on for Curtis Smith.
And it was this latter switch that swung the match. In the 65th minute Caspall wriggled clear down the left, and cut the ball back for midfielder Sam Young to smash home his first goal for the Magpies.
Five minutes later Caspall launched another raid down the left, and his pinpoint centre was emphatically smashed home by striker Charlie Young to wrap up the win.
Bude: Ty Rowe, Aled Thomas, Fin Haste, Joe Reeve, Lloyd Scaife, Harry Dymond, Alper Eroglu, Ruan Tape, George Harvey, Maximus Alvarez-Lopera, Rocco Dyer, Connor Jenkins, James Wheeler, Louie Steege, Steve Box, Jake Woodland.
Subs: Jack Seedhouse, Adam Copp, Steve Filsell, Aaron Harper-Penman, Ollie Stevens.
St Day 4 Camelford 0
Elsewhere in the SWPL Premier West on Saturday, Camelford came unstuck at new boys St Day after a disastrous start to the match.
Reg Hambly’s side found themselves 2-0 down after only six minutes as Phil Cattran (4 minutes) and Taylor Packenas hit the target and it was an uphill battle from there.
To their credit the Camels were able to stabilise the situation but two more goals early in the second half from Cattran (53 minutes) and Josh Margetts (62) put St Day out of sight.
Camelford are in Friday night action at Trefrew Park when rivals Bude Town provide the opposition.
