Kitchen Kit South West Peninsula League Premier East
Holsworthy 4
Crediton United 3
THE Magpies survived a stirring second-half comeback from Crediton to record a crucial victory in South West Peninsula League Premier East.
Holsworthy manager Liam Dart named an unchanged side from the one that drew 3-3 with Axminster Town last Saturday and it paid off handsomely as they took the lead inside ten minutes.
Winger Jed Harper-Penman burst down the right before cutting inside on to his left foot and curling an unstoppable shot into the top left-hand corner.
The North Devon side doubled their lead soon after as a long diagonal ball was misjudged by the Crediton keeper, allowing striker Adam Smith to nip in behind and tuck the ball in from the tightest of angles.
Taryn Stacey added a third inside half an hour when he headed in Harper-Penman’s corner from six yards, before Smith grabbed a second before the break when he smashed an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner from 25 yards.
Crediton hadn’t tested Ryan Chadwick in the Magpies’ goal before they pulled one back on the stroke of half-time. A long ball wasn’t dealt with, which allowed a shot from ten yards to go in.
Any hope of Smith earning a hat-trick was ended five minutes after the break after he was sent-off for a late challenge on the goalkeeper.
That inspired the Lords Meadow outfit, who struck twice before the hour to set up a thrilling finale. However despite dominating possession, they failed to take their chances as the battling Magpies moved five points clear of the bottom two.
Holsworthy, who saw their Devon St Lukes Bowl quarter-final clash at Bovey Tracey postponed in the week, head to sixth-placed Millbrook tomorrow (3pm).

Godolphin 0
Camelford 8
ANDY Boxall banged in a late hat-trick as Camelford thrashed beleaguered Godolphin at Godolphin Way.
The Camels started the season superbly but a combination of injuries, the recent poor weather and a tough fixture list has seen their momentum stall.
Goals from Ed Harrison and Matt Andrew gave the North Cornwall side a two-goal cushion, which the depleted hosts, who recently saw manager Paul Stidwell resign, never looked like recovering from.
Harrison added a third from the penalty spot before Kian Burns made it four.
Joe Reeve, a recent acquisition from East Cornwall Premier League side North Petherwin, grabbed his first goal for the club before Boxall rounded off proceedings with a quickfire treble.
The eighth-placed Camels will hope for back-to-back victories when Liskeard Athletic visit Trefrew Park tomorrow (3pm).
Saltash United 5
Callington Town 0
RYAN Richards made it five goals in the space of seven days as Callington failed to build on their morale-boosting victory over Penzance in the local derby at Kimberley Stadium.
Richards struck twice before the break and added his third shortly after half-time to all but wrap up the points.
Sam Farrant made it four on the hour before former Launceston midfielder Dan Hart added a late fifth.
Callington, who are five points clear of the bottom two, face a crucial clash at second bottom St Dennis tomorrow (3pm).
