NEARLY £3,000 has been raised for the Young Epilepsy charity through a continuous day of football held on Callington College’s astro-turf pitch.

Over 100 players consisting of local individuals and four teams from Callington Colts, Plymouth Map Kings, Tesco Launceston and Tesco Tavistock, attended the 12-hour marathon in which matches varied from seven-a-side to eleven-a-side.

The event was to raise awareness and funds for Young Epilepsy inspired by Jayden Honey, the son of Andrew and Kelly Honey, who was recently diagnosed with epilepsy.

Sponsorship was raised through entry fees, sponsorship and donations from food and drink sales.

Various local companies donated including Ginsters, Philip Warren, Tesco. Callington College assisted with the use of their all weather pitch for 12 hours at a heavily subsided rate.

The organisers would like to thank every individual and team that took part and the local companies who helped with donations, and also Callington College staff, and everyone involved.
