Carlsberg South West Peninsula League

Premier Division

Plymouth Argyle 1

ED HARRISON’S second-half strike gave Camelford a share of the spoils at the Devon FA headquarters in Newton Abbot.

The Camels have played just once this month — a Cornwall Senior Cup tie at St Austell — but showed no signs of rust as they kept Argyle’s talented youngsters at bay for long periods to take a precious point back to North Cornwall.

After getting into the break all square, the Camels took a shock lead on 47 minutes when Harrison fired past goalkeeper Michael Cooper, who made his first team debut for the Greens at Blackburn Rovers back in October.

The Pilgrims continued to dominate possession but were kept at arm’s length until striker Alex Fletcher’s shot beat Luke Gwillam.

However, Reg Hambly’s men held on for a vital point ahead of Saturday’s trip to Ivybridge Town (3pm).

Saturday, February 3

ALTHOUGH?the weather again ruined the majority of the local football, there was at least a number of games involving teams in the Post area that went ahead.

Just two games went ahead in the Carlsberg?South West Peninsula League as Callington’s home with Launceston fell foul to the weather as did Holsworthy’s trip to Elburton Villa.

In the Mortgage Advice Bureau East Cornwall League, St Teath moved off the bottom of Division One after Craig Stollery gave them a 1-1 draw at Padstow United.

There were a number of games in the JJ Jones and Sons Duchy League including emphatic home victories for promotion-chasing Boscastle and St Minver Reserves.

However, there was an afternoon to forget for Southgate as they were thrashed 6-0 by Lamerton Community in the third-round of the Bodmin Sports Trophies Duchy League Cup.

Although Southgate provided more problems after the break, it was Lamerton adding further goals, leaving the Launceston-based club to focus on earning promotion from Division Four of the JJ Jones and Sons Duchy League.
