CALLINGTON Town have announced that their new first team manager will be Steve Metters, who takes over from the retiring manager, Lee Beer.
His appointment was welcomed by outgoing chairman Andrew Long.
Mr Long said: "Steve has a pedigree within football and immense experience which will be invaluable to the club.
“With the installation of new floodlights now complete, and a grandstand being installed in the next few weeks, we are now entering a new and exciting phase for the club."
Steve has moved quickly to retain Gary Williams as his assistant and is now busy building a management team, with training due to start in the next couple of weeks.
The club have also concluded discussions with a new third team management team which will be announced shortly.
The club also recently brought their season to a close with the annual awards night, held this year at The Cardinal’s Hatt.
The outgoing chairman, Mr Andrew Long, thanked all who had attended and congratulated the club on another successful season, with three more major trophies to add to the large haul since the club was formed back in 1989.
The club also bade farewell to first team manager Lee Beer in emotional style following his decision to retire from football. He was thanked for his seven years hard work which had seen the club progress so well. Another player finishing his career was first team captain Fergus Nevin who thanked the club for making him and his family so welcome in his time at the East Cornwall outfit.

Ladies Team: Leading Goalscorer — Kat Marment, Player’s Player — Jodie Shipton; Manager’s Player — Jodie Shipton & Tyler Matthews. Veterans Team: Leading Goalscorer — Nick Carpenter; Player’s Player — Justin Dudley; Manager’s Player — Denis Noble.
