ALTARNUN Football Club recently held their annual ‘Veterans’ match in aid of the Cornwall Air Ambulance Heli Appeal and the football club and raised £370.

The weather was once again kind with most of last year’s Duchy Two winning side taking on the veterans.

The game was played in good spirits with both teams knocking the ball about and it wasn’t long before the youngsters took the lead although the vets made it all square before the break.

In the second-half the teams were mixed up with players swapping sides. It was the Vets that took the lead putting the ball past the Altarnun keeper — a well deserved lead.

However, the lead didn’t last long as a long shot found its way past Bryan Holden, and that’s how it stayed until full-time.

Club secretary Kevin Sandercock said: “We at the club would like to thank Bryan Holden and Simon Langdon for getting the veterans team together.

“Also a big thank you to Joe From Penpont Brewery for supplying the bar and his donation, Chris Wonnacott for taking the photos on the day and also Roy Marshall for his help and getting the pitch in excellent condition.

“Also thank you to everyone who turned up on the day to help support the event. Also Pat Sandercock for doing the teas and refreshments."
