THE 2015 Virgin London Marathon saw eight East Cornwall Harriers (ECH) make the journey to the capital and compete in the 26.2 mile iconic event.
Aided by cool conditions and the support of the crowd, the ECH runners joined the masses in the show-stopping race of the year.
A mix of first time marathoners and experienced hands, all the club members ran good performances and although they couldn't match the pace of fellow Cornish athlete Emma Stepto, who ran with the Elite Women, they certainly upheld the honour of representing South East Cornwall.
Completing his 12th London Marathon, local teacher Oli Jones was first Harrier back in a time of 2:49:39 which far exceeds the 'good for age' classification guaranteeing Oli entry for the next two years.
Not only just London but a debut at any marathon, Rob Lockyer put some of the more experienced runners to shame as he finished in a fantastic 3:13:25.
After nearly three and a quarter hours of running, Dave Philp in what was also his London debut finished only four seconds after Rob in 3:13:29, which like Oli means Dave's time is also inside the 'good for age' classification.
Completing her 90th official marathon, Dianne Roy also ran inside the 'good for age time' in 3:14:38. Not long now surely before Di will become a member of the 100 Marathon Club?
Club chairman Mark Andrews was running the London marathon for the 14th time and also has guaranteed further entries by completing the course in 3:16:53.
Unlike the local 5-Tors race held last weekend at Minions, it hasn't been possible to find a photo of the chairman at the front mixing it up with the race favourites.
The fourth running of this event by Clive Shute saw him gain a three minute PB in 3:25:46. Kaye Patterson made her London debut running in 3:49:39 and fellow debutant Sam Hunkin finished in 4:46:08.
