BOSCASTLE, Kilkhampton Reserves and St Minver are amongst the St Piran League Division One East sides through to the second round of the Cornwall Intermediate Cup following Saturday’s ties.
Boscastle made the long trip down to Penryn Athletic and led 2-0 after 22 minutes through James Bosley’s double.
The hosts battled back either side of half-time, but Sam Haddy’s winner on 65 minutes sent the village side through.
Kilkhampton are also in the hat after a comfortable 2-0 success at Liskeard Athletic Reserves, while St Minver produced one of the shock results by knocking out Premier Division West title hopefuls Helston Athletic Development 1-0 in West Cornwall.
There wasn’t quite such luck for the rest of the Post area teams from the same division.
St Breward were thrashed 5-0 by visiting Pendeen Rovers, while nearby at St Teath, the home side also struggled in a 3-0 defeat to Praze-an-Beeble.
Pensilva nearly produced a remarkable result over Premier Division West leaders Falmouth Town Reserves.The Pens were 3-1 up five minutes into the second half thanks to Kyle Hutchings, Euan McSherry and Sam Rogers, but once Town got one back they pulled away to run out 5-3 winners.
The Post area’s Premier Division East clubs had mixed fortunes.
Launceston Reserves made it three successive wins in all competitions as they saw off Troon 3-1, which included goals from Josh Chidley (2) and Will Hinks.
North Petherwin eased past Sticker Reserves 3-0 with Shane Shadrick, Alfie Rowland and Sonny Smith on target, while a dominant Callington Town Reserves eventually won 2-1 at Mullion thanks to Will Elliott’s 70th minute goal.
Elsewhere, Altarnun were beaten 2-1 by Newquay Reserves, Gunnislake lost 2-0 to visiting Illogan RBL and Ben Pengilly scored Morwenstow’s goal as the North Devon League Senior Division outfit were beaten 4-1 at St Ives Town.
