ST MINVER will look to produce an upset this evening when they welcome league-above Grampound Road in the first round of the Clive Rosevear Insurance Hawkey Cup (6.15pm).
The Grasshoppers were playing two leagues below their opponents last summer and will require a season’s best performance to set up a tie with Newquay in the last eight in a fortnight’s time (May 24).
St Minver have won one and lost two of their four games since promotion so far, the other being a cancellation against Bude, and will need a far better batting performance than the one they produced on Saturday when they lost by eight wickets against Holsworthy having mustered just 91.
Grampound were beaten by promotion-hopefuls Paul at the weekend but will start as favourites, while the hosts will hope the 20-over format will provide some respite.
However they do have to do without hard-hitting batsman Ryan Pooley, wicket-keeper Tom Preston-Evans and veteran all-rounder Rob Hawken and opening bowler Elliott Dodd from the weekend with Karl Daly, Josh Sanders, Steve Hawke and Ben Lamb all coming in.
