Cresselly bowed out of the Village Cup last Sunday when they were beaten by Carmarthenshire side Bronwydd.
In essence, Cresselly failed to score enough runs when they batted first at the picturesque Bronwydd ground, with their total of 181 probably being some 40 or 50 runs short of a competitive target.
This was mainly due to a poor start as they lost wickets early and at one stage slumped to 92 for 7, although two spirited innings' from Neilson Cole and Ryan Lewis somewhat rescued the situation.
Situated in one of the loveliest settings (the steam railway on one boundary and river on another, with rolling hills in the distance), after a somewhat sumptuous tea, Bronwydd started their innings intent on reaching the target in what proved a somewhat steady and laborious fashion.
They reached 180 for the loss of seven wickets in the 36th over and then took nearly three more overs to score the remaining runs.
A disappointing day for Cresselly, but no doubt they will take some positives from it.
