CAMELFORD missed the chance to put pressure on the chasing pack in the race for seventh as they were held to a goalless draw by a dogged Mullion outfit at Trefrew Park on Saturday.

The Camels hadn’t played for three weeks and it showed.

Boss Reg Hambly was without injured duo Sam Watts and Andy Boxall, as well as Eli Evans.

Leo Best and Olly Taylor were handed rare starts either side of frontman Mark Gusterson, with top-scorer Brooklyn Wilkins part of the midfield three.

Camelford had the first chance ten minutes in as Gusterson shot over, before Mullion centre-half Luke Hunter saw his goal-bound header nodded clear by Ross Beare.

Best should have scored when Taylor’s cross to the back post skewed off his head from six yards, while Mullion frontman Jack Noy headed just over when he should have scored from Jack Gray’s cross.

The best chance for Camelford fell to skipper Charlie Hambly on the stroke of half-time, but he could only guide a shot into the arms of Harry Salmon.

Hambly had an even better chance three minutes after the break as Gusterson’s cross in from the right found him free six yards out, but he failed to get a proper connection and Salmon gathered.

Although there were only two real other chances, both should have ended up in the net.

Gusterson saw an effort cleared off the line by Hunter from a tight angle, while Best was was sent through one-one by Wilkins, however he could only lift his chip into Salmon’s arms.
