NATIONAL LEAGUE TWO (WEST)
Loughborough Students 49 Camborne 31
CAMBORNE lost for the first time this season in a 12-try top of the table thriller at Loughborough.
After a superb ‘Town’ early handling move came to nothing, the home side took the lead with a brace of converted scored in the first quarter.
The visitors responded with a lovely show and go from Kyle Moyle breaking the cover to allow Alex Ducker a run around under the posts. Fly-half Moyle made it 14-7.
Loughborough stretched their lead with a further converted try, but as the interval neared, a catch and drive delivered a Ben Priddey touch down to make it 21-12 at the break.
Almost from the restart the home side produced a stunning bonus point try to further increase their advantage.
The running of the talented home back three had caused Camborne problems all afternoon and two quickfire converted tries then made it 42-12 with an hour gone.
The visitors responded with a second catch and drive dot down for hooker Priddey improved by Moyle, and this was followed soon after by a run in for centre Connor Gilbert’s bonus point try which Moyle also easily converted.
The Cherry and Whites reduced the deficit still further to 42-31 when left wing Ducker took Aden Brassington’s scoring pass to race over.
Chasing a second bonus point, the visitors attacked again late on but once more they were punished by a long range try from the speedy Students to wrap up matters.
