LAUNCESTON Road Runners were out and about in various events across Devon over the second weekend in May.
Saturday, May 11 saw Jason Shipton and Ann Barriball run the Erme Valley Harriers-organised Ivybridge 10k.
Despite a challenging hill to finish, the rest of the route is fast and flat with Jason finishing in 47 minutes and 46 seconds, while Ann wasn’t too far behind in 53:04.
The Exeter Live Better Marathon, held on May 12 and organised by the City Community Trust, saw Richard Foster and Katie Fowler take part.
Richard (3:59:14) was home just inside the four-hour mark, while Katie (5:01:53) was less than two minutes over the five-hour threshold.
The Bideford 10K on Sunday, May 12 is one of the events Launceston Road Runners look forward to the most, as shown by 14 making the trip up to North Devon.
With funds going to Children’s Hospice South West, the event, which starts near Bideford Amateur Athletics Club, takes in the Taw and Torridge Estuary as well as the Tarka Trail.
In total, 837 runners completed the route with Launceston’s Darren Evans finishing 25th in a very fast time of 37 minutes and 11 seconds.

May 12 also saw a record number of entries in Honiton Running Club’s Ottery 10K which is based at the town’s cricket club.
On a sweltering day, local running legend, Jo Pavey, started the race and then jogged around the route finishing in a time that most runners would be very proud of.
Launceston duo Linda and Dave Pickard finished within 40 seconds of each other with Linda first in 1:04:58.
