BUDE Sharks Swimming Club held a fun evening to thank Jeremy Latham who stepped back from his role as head coach at Easter, on Tuesday, March 26.
The evening consisted of relays, a fun swim and a cake sale to raise money for club funds.
Club chair Kirsty Sampson thanked Jeremy on behalf of the club for his commitment, enthusiasm and drive over the past eight years and presented him with gifts from club members. Jeremy presented the club captain shields for 2024 to Alisha (senior captain) and Lucie (junior captain).
Bude Sharks had recent success at the 2024 Junior County Championships which took place at the end of January and the beginning of February over four weekends at Penzance and Bodmin.
Twenty Bude Sharks swimmers qualified for the championships in over 100 events. Countless personal bests were achieved and Bude had 21 finalists.
Huge congratulations to medal winners, Olivia , Natalia and Chris who took home eight medals between them, while Olivia and Natalia secured regional times and are competing in the upcoming regional championships in May.
Not to be outdone, a small team of four Masters swimmers represented the club in the Masters County Championships and brought home a haul of medals. Congratulations to Freddie, Chris, Kirsty and David.
Bude competed in the Carn Brea and Helston Sprint Meet on March 23 with medals secured by Mikayla, Olivia, Chris, Natalia, Alisha and Isaac.
Sunday, April 14 saw Bude compete again at the NCD/Newquay Easter Invitational with a haul of medals going to Chris, Mikayla, Olivia, Alisha, Liz, Noah, Bella and Elsie. Every Bude swimmer earned at least one personal best.
Bude Sharks train on Tuesdays and Fridays at Splash Leisure Centre.
