SOUTH Petherwin's Gemma Sanders has won a bronze medal as part of the Team GB football team which secured third place in the Deaflympics 2013, held in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The team did amazingly well, beating Poland into fourth place in their play-off game. The gold medal was won by America and the silver by Russia.

Gemma is the oldest daughter of Julian and Karen Sanders and she worked very hard to gain sponsorship to enable her to attend and play in this tournament, as there was no Government funding available.
