NORTH DEVON FOOTBALL LEAGUE ROUND-UP (SATURDAY)
HOLSWORTHY made it four points from six at home last week on Saturday as they drew 1-1 with Appledore Reserves.
The Magpies had beaten Braunton 4-2 during the week thanks to Ben Sharpe’s double and efforts from Rob Pearce and Todd Peschke, and it was Sharpe who scored in the first half to earn his side a share of the spoils.
In the Senior Division, Morwenstow put in an encouraging display but were beaten 2-1 by visiting Bideford Reserves at the Shop Playing Field.
The visitors led 1-0 at the break through Harry Bloodworth, and although Phil Horton made it five goals in two games for the Greens to draw the sides level, Bloodworth slotted home a second to send the points back up the A39.
Shebbear United continued their encouraging start to the season with a 1-0 victory at South Molton. Sheb travelled having fought back from 3-0 down against Woolsery during the week to earn a point, and won it at South Molton thanks to Andrew James.
The scorers in midweek were James Vanstone and subs Pete Blair and Mark Parnell.
The Intermediate One division got underway on Saturday with all 14 teams in action.
Reformed Bradworthy, back after a season away, started life in the third tier with a 2-0 derby success at Putford with second half goals from Harrison Palmer and George Wellington proving enough.
Holsworthy Thirds had a baptism of fire as they were hammered 7-0 by visiting Georgeham and Croyde Rovers, while Morwenstow Reserves lost 3-1 at Sandymere Blues.
The Greens trailed 3-0 at the break and pulled one back in the second half through sub Ethan Hookway.
There are four games scheduled for this Saturday including Bradworthy’s home clash with Sandymere, while Morwenstow are on their travels to Equalizers.
