Readers of the Cornish and Devon Post Series can qualify for an annual scholarship of up to £2,500 to study for a degree in journalism, thanks to the newspaper's proprietor, Sir Ray Tindle.
There are a limited number of scholarships available at the University of Buckingham for students living in the areas served by this newspaper and others in the Tindle Newspaper Group.
The Sir Ray Tindle Journalism Scholarships are for accelerated two-year honours degrees in combination with English, Communication, International Studies, or Marketing.
Apart from having to live in the newspaper's circulation area, candidates should be studying for a post-sixteen qualification in at least one of the following subjects: English, Media Studies, Politics or Business.
Two scholarships annually are reserved for mature students with equivalent work experience, not necessarily in journalism.
Successful applicants will also be offered accredited work experience opportunities during or immediately following their studies.
Sir Ray Tindle, who received an honorary Doctorate from the university said: "I'm delighted that the university is continuing with the tradition of these scholarships, and I am sure all our editors will welcome the opportunity to contribute to our industry in this way."
Candidates are asked to apply via email to english admissions@buckingham.ac.uk at the University of Buckingham, Buckingham MK18 1EG (http://www.buckingham.ac.uk">www.buckingham.ac.uk). Buckingham is the UK's only fully independent university, and has topped the National Student Survey of Student Satisfaction for the last three years.
