A NUMBER of local schools took part in a collaborative performance of William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at Launceston Castle recently.
A number of schools from the Post area, including St Catherine’s CE School, Windmill Hill Academy, North Petherwin and Werrington Primary Schools, participated in a joint performance of the Shakespeare classic in the grounds of Launceston Castle.
They were joined by Launceston and Bideford College.
St Catherine’s teacher, Liz Davy, said: “We had 27 pupils take part from Year 2 to Year 6. There were several local primary schools involved and also Launceston and Bideford College, who are the main link between us and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Each school was responsible for certain acts and then we met to put them all together.
“This is the third year that we have been involved and the experience is amazing. The pupils were fantastic and we are exceptionally proud of how they work so hard to learn their lines, their commitment to attending rehearsal and the amazing confidence that they display. Every year we are overwhelmed by how they embrace the opportunity and perform like true professionals.”
