CLAWTON Young Farmers have had a busy start to the year, rehearsing their drama entitled ‘After School Special’.
The production, directed by Kerry Lyons, saw nine members take to the stage for the group round at the end of January.
Competing against Bradworthy, Buckland Brewer, Winkleigh and Woolsery they were crowned champions of the group competition.
This was a great achievement with many members not performing on stage previously — it is the highest placed in six years.
George Mitchell, along with being on stage, competed in the Junior Member of the Year competition at the Group Round and came in first place.
Both the drama and Junior Member of the Year continued to the county final two weeks ago at Paignton.
A spokesperson for Clawton YFC said: “They did the club proud with a very high standard of competition from all groups throughout Devon.”
The club has a charity re-run of the drama along with a performance from Tetcott Ladies’ Choir tomorrow (Friday) at Tetcott Village Hall.
It will start at 7.30pm with refreshments throughout the evening and a raffle.
Profits from this event are for Devon YFC’s new building.
