Fancying a challenge the members of Bradworthy Young Farmer’s Club (YFC) held their own charity Tour de Bath Tub event, and it went swimmingly.
With Devon Young Farmers and National Young Farmers celebrating their 90th anniversary Bradworthy decided to do a 90 mile bike ride around the Tarka YFC area.
However, there was a twist — they thought “why not have a bath tub attached to three bikes to make this a real challenge”.
A spokesperson said: “The grand finale was at Holsworthy and Stratton Agriculture Showground at 2.15pm where we were greeted by the show president in the main ring. So far we have raised £5,027.73 with donations still coming in. With a total of £12,027.73 it isn’t bad for 5 days work raising so much money for two worthy charities. This year we have raised £14,455.49 to various charities.
“We look forward to the upcoming year where there will be new officers to do this all again.”
It has been a busy few months for Bradworthy YFC, as they previously held their charity Tractor Run on Sunday, August 21, in memory of Ed Ward, raising money for Pete’s Dragon.
The spokesperson said: “We had 114 tractors attend the tractor run where they did a 28 mile route around the local area. In the evening we had a popular local band called ‘Big Al and Friends’ play music with a tractor dyno, auction, BBQ and bar. The event raised £7,000! Thank you to everyone that helped and attended the day.”
