SEVENTY years of Launceston Young Farmers’ Club was celebrated in the town hall on Saturday night at a dinner and dance.
Around 200 people attended, including members past and present, such as Vernon Daniel, who was the youngest Launceston YFC member at its first meeting on October 2 1947.
They were able to reminisce as all of the old scrapbooks and minute books were on hand to look through.
Current chairman Amy Trehane said it was ‘rewarding’ to be in the role when celebrating the club milestone. The Launceston YFC AGM is due to be held tonight (Thursday), when a new chairman and secretary will be appointed.
Thanks were expressed to Lin Pidsley and her team from LAP Food and Bars for the meal, Feedback the band, EXEcellant cakes for the cake and Flowers by Donna and Karen’s covers for their help with table decorations. Amy added: “Also a big thank you to all the local businesses for the donation of the raffle prizes.”
