One very angry parent, Kingsteignton, writes:
Your front page in last week's MDA reports Public Health England urging us not to panic regarding the TB outbreak at Teign School.
Well, I believe I and other parents, pupils and staff should be concerned.
TB is a dreadful disease. Even latent TB can activate at any time in your life with devastating results if not treated promptly.
Why has it taken nearly a year for this outbreak to be publicised and why is it taking so long to test everyone? If this was to happen abroad we would have teams of people sent out from the UK to deal with it.
Perhaps we should berth HMS Bulwark on the Teign with all those who have had recent experience of dealing with the ebola epidemic in Africa.
We live in the UK but are getting a worse response from the authorities here than others get from our charities and government.
As a parent with three children I am quite worried and angry at the lack of help given to eradicate this problem. My own health is also at risk as the BCG jab I had when I was at school will no longer protect me as it has a limited life.
Please would those in charge get a grip and get to work on this – now.
