A SERIOUS injury road traffic collision occurred on the old A30 at Lobhill, Lewdown at approximately 11am on Saturday.

The collision involved a 59-year-old woman pedal cyclist who was found lying in the middle of the road by a passing motorist.

The woman had sustained a serious head injury and was taken to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, where she has undergone surgery.

Witness appeal

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the cyclist.

Officers believe she was cycling east from Lewdown towards her home at Combebow.

As the 'Post' went to press, police said the woman remained in a 'critical' condition.
