THREE members of Whitstone Methodist Church received certificates and gifts in recognition of their long service for Chapel.

Hester Hallett has been a regular organist for 50 years. The first service she played for at Whitstone was her nephew, John Hallett's christening. Prior to that, she had helped out as organist at Derril Chapel, playing the harmonium rather than a pedal organ. Hester still plays, now on alternate Sundays instead of every third Sunday as the third organist has just retired!

Phoebe Medland has been an organist for about 33 years. She could not remember when she actually started at Whitstone. From the age of 15 she has played the organ at her home village of Putford before moving to Whitstone when she was married. Both ladies have given their time and talents and the chapel members thought it appropriate to acknowledge their gratitude for their commitment.

Ivy Cann was also recognised, as she has been responsible for turning on the heating for every event held at the chapel for probably the last 45 years. It was always been her father's job and Ivy cheerfully took it on from him.

What loyalty and devotion these ladies have shown — a true witness of service. It was a privilege to acknowledge their dedication.
