THE future of Camelford was on everyone's agenda at the annual town meeting, held at Camelford Hall, on Tuesday, May 3. The meeting, and the guest speaker — Mr Richard Walker of Walker Developments — generated such an interest from members of the public that the Mayor was forced to move proceedings into a larger room.

Mayor, Robert Rotchell addressed the 100-strong crowd and said the purpose of the meeting was to highlight the work of the council over the past year, and each year they invite a speaker.

This year's speaker was Richard Walker of Walker Developments, the company hoping to develop a large supermarket in the town.

Cllr Rotchell gave a potted history of the plans to build a supermarket in the town. He hoped that this would put straight some rumours circulating about the town council's involvement.
