A CINDERFORD man has been ordered by a court to pay £430 after failing to dispose of his waste responsibly.

James Leslie Cripwell, 26, of Meendhurst Road, collected several black plastic bags of household waste and building materials.

He allegedly paid someone to dispose it on his behalf but failed to check the waste carrier had a valid licence to do so, contrary to section 34(1)(c) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Mr Cripwell pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined £300, ordered to pay £100 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Forest Council Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Marrilyn Smart (Con, Christchurch and English Bicknor) said: "We are pleased with the result of this case. This is another successful prosecution of a resident who has failed to dispose of their waste responsibly. We hope it sends a clear message that we are continuing to actively pursue waste crime and we will investigate and prosecute where there is sufficient evidence."
