PEOPLE could be banned from taking exercise outside of their home if they continue to ignore the lockdown rules on staying at home and social distancing.
That is the warning from Health Secretary Matt Hancock after a weekend where there have been reports of groups of people gathering in parks to take advantage of the sunny weather.
Mr Hancock told the BBC’s Andrew Marr show that the government would ‘take action’ if further measures are needed to bring the coronavirus under control.
‘If you don’t want us to have to take the step to ban exercise of all forms outside of your own home, then you’ve got to follow the rules. Let’s not have a minority spoil it for everybody.’
He said the timing of restrictions being lifted would depend on people’s behaviour, adding: ‘The more people stay at home, the less the virus will spread.’
The latest death toll in the UK rose by 621 to 4,934 on Sunday.
There were 11 further cases in the South West, taking the total for the region to 86, with three more deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
One of those who has passed away due to contracting coronavirus is Lord Bath, who has died at the age of 89.
The 7th Marquess of Bath, who ran the Longleat park and home, died on Saturday at the Royal Bath United Hospital after being admitted on March 28, where it was confirmed he had the virus.
