NORTH Devon Hospice is appealing for volunteer therapists to provide support at the new Long House outreach centre in Holsworthy.
As building work continues at The Long House, the charity is appealing for volunteer complementary therapists to lend their time helping patients and families.
One such volunteer to already offer his skills has received the benefits of complementary therapies while dealing with cancer.
Brian Aicheler from Chilsworthy was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2003 and underwent chemotherapy treatment.
He said: "The side-effects of the chemo were awful, but then I received some complementary therapies such as reflexology, massage and aromatherapy.
"They made such a huge difference and really helped me through it all. Once I was in remission I trained to become a complementary therapist and I've been doing it now for nearly ten years."
