THE unsung heroes who support three pillars of the local community received the equivalent of the MBE for the work they do for the benefit of others on Tuesday.

Haslemere's Holy Cross Hospital, the town's Educational Museum and Hambledon Village Shop make up a record number of 12 voluntary groups across Surrey to have had their outstanding contributions recognised by gaining the 2015 Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
