A LEWDOWN family-run vineyard is celebrating winning an award from the Independent English Wine Awards (IEWA).

Alder Vineyard was awarded silver for its white wine Madeleine Angevine 2014 (pictured right).

The IEWA’s were held in Bristol this month showcasing wines from all over the country and were judged by a panel of industry experts.

Alder Vineyard also picked up a ‘highly commended’ in September from the South West Vineyards Association Annual Awards.

The vineyard was set up in 2008 by Mike and Sarah Hodgetts. Sarah said: “We are really pleased to have been awarded a silver in the first IEWAs and even more excited to release our new vintages from 2016 very soon!”
