A CENTURY old tradition pulled through Devon villages on Saturday, September 7, as the Hatherleigh Tar Barrel Committee travelled through the parishes.
Over the 110-year history, the Hatherleigh Tar Barrel Committee have pulled the barrels to Winkleigh, Iddesleigh, Sheepwash, Highampton, Folly Gate and Northlew to raise money to keep the tradition alive.
This year, the barrels and pullers travelled by trailer and bus between villages and pulled for about one mile at each location, through the village and stopping at the local pub for a break.
